The Man who saved baseball for Rochester in 1957, spearheading a stock drive he and 8,221 other bought shares in the team in order to purchase the franchise and stadium from the St. Louis Cardinals.
This sculpture symbolizes his desire to preserve baseball for the future generations of his beloved community.
Silver Stadium, the former home of the Rochester Red Wings, was named in honor of Morrie Silver in 1968. The Red Wings played at Silver Stadium until 1997, their first season at Frontier Field.
