Mount Airy
17th century hunting lodge of the Lords Baltimore, 9200 acres acquired in 1751 by the honorable Benedict Calvert, member of the council, son of Charles, Fifth Lord Baltimore. Here, with George Washington present, February 4, 1774, Benedict's daughter "Nelly" married John Parke Custis, son of Martha Washington. Birthplace of George Washington Parke Custis, their son, who married Marry Lee Fitzhugh and built "Arlington" on the Potomac.
Marker is on Rosaryville Road 0.9 miles west of Crain Highway (U.S. 301), on the right when traveling west.
