Municipal Building
Designed for the offices of city government, this granite structure was completed in 1913 from plans by McKim, Mead, and White. The symbolic figure, civic fame, atop the tower and the other sculptured elements are the work of Adolf Alexander Weinman. An estimated weight of 165,000 tons is supported by 106 pneumatic cassions sunk 112 feet below water level.
