National Historic Landmark-Asa Packer Mansion

National Historic Landmark-Asa Packer Mansion

This is one of the most perfectly preserved mid-19th-century Italian villas in America, with original furniture, chandeliers, and silver.

A huge orchestrion - a giant Swiss music maker with organ, bells and drum - is a prize exhibit.

It was commissioned by Asa Packer (1805-1879), a coal and railroad magnate who built the Lehigh Valley Railroad and founded Lehigh University.
