Constructed in the 1840s, this is an unusually sophisticated Greek Revival style plantation house with small Doric entrance and limestone-paved rear courtyard.

The interior contains one of the South's most breathtaking stairways, climbing in a series of double flights and bridge-like landings to the rooftop observatory.
