National Historic Landmark-Boston Post Road Historic District

This unusually quiet, undeveloped area along the old Boston Post Road contains three architecturally significant houses as well as the Jay family cemetery and a conservation area along the shore of Long Island Sound. The three large estate houses are Greek and Gothic Revival, the latter designed by Alexander Jackson Davis.

The district is closely associated with the family of John Jay, first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and second governor of the State of New York. Much of the landscape setting remains as it was in the 18th century when it was first settled.
