National Historic Landmark- Cherokee County Courthouse

This 2-story brick structure served as the council house of the Cherokee National Council from 1869 until 1907, when Oklahoma became a state.

The Italianate building stands as a symbol of the Cherokee's ability to adjust their culture to prevailing customs of the times. After its use as a tribal capitol ceased, it became the Cherokee County Courthouse.
