National Historic Landmark- Dr. Oliver Bronson House
National Historic Landmark- Dr. Oliver Bronson House
The Dr. Oliver Bronson house is the oldest known extant example of the bracketed style of American architect Alexander Jackson Davis, who was a leader in the development of the Romantic and Picturesque philosophies that began to supplant the Neoclassical ideals in the mid 1830s.
The house and its outbuildings, overlooking the Hudson River, sit in a romantically designed landscape which illustrates the ideas of the prominent early 19th century American landscape architect, Andrew Jackson Downing.
