National Historic Landmark- Fort Ancient

This hilltop area with large surrounding earthworks was built and inhabited by people of the Hopewell culture (c. 300 BC-250 AD).

Hundreds of years after the site had been abandoned by the Hopewell, the Fort Ancient people (1200-1600 AD) settled in the area.
