National Historic Landmark - Fort Myer Historic District

Dating from the turn of the century, Fort Myer was the site of the earliest experiments in military aviation conducted by the Wright Brothers in 1908. Since 1909 Quarters 1 (1899) on "Generals Row" has been the home of the Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Army.
