National Historic Landmark -Fort Ticonderoga
For most of the second half of the 18th century, this Landmark was the military key to the Champlain Valley, New York City, the Hudson River Valley and western New England and Montreal.
This strategic location made the Fort one of the most important military sites in the struggle for control of North America in the French and Indian War and in the American Revolution.
The -Green Mountain Boys- under Ethan Allen captured the fort from the British in 1775.
