National Historical Landmark-Founders Hall Girard College

This is an outstanding example of philanthropic support for education in the United States, and also one of the finest late Greek Revival buildings in America.

Wealthy merchant Stephen Girard bequeathed $6 million to Philadelphia in 1831, for the founding of an educational institution to be operated by the city.
