National Historic Landmark- Hopsewee
Thomas Lynch, Jr. (1749-1779), a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was born here.
Dating from the 1740s, the frame building, a fine example of a Carolina low country plantation house, shows West Indian influence, with its double-tiered piazza and dormered hip roof.
The house is open to the public several days a week.
