National Historic Landmark – Louis Armstrong House
Louis Armstrong – -Satchmo- to his world-wide legion of fans -- lived in this house from 1940 to 1971.
One of America's most creative, influential, and popular musicians, he arranged, composed and played blues and jazz like no one else during his 55-year career.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Satchmo took his trumpet around the world, giving concerts and serving as a goodwill ambasador sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
