National Historic Landmark-Philadelphia City Hall

National Historic Landmark-Philadelphia City Hall

Designed by John McArthur, Jr. (1823-1890), this is the largest and most elaborate City Hall in America that is still in use.

It is also the world's tallest bearing-wall construction laid up without a steel skeleton.

Alexander Milne Calder and assistants carved the hundreds of sculptures that adorn the building, including the 37 foot bronze figure of William Penn that tops the central tower.
