National Historic Landmark- Pulpit Rocks
Pulpit Rocks is a prime example of the findings of the First Geological Survey of Pennsylvania and the impact of that survey upon the study of the geology of the eastern United States.
This survey, conducted between 1836 and 1858, set the framework for all future geological work in the Appalachian Mountains and for stratigraphy throughout the eastern United States.
