National Historic Landmark-Rattle and Snap

National Historical Landmark-Rattle and Snap

This large, L-shaped brick residence was built in the Greek Revival style by a cousin of President Polk. Its main facade, with a two story Corinthian portico, gives the house distinction.

George Polk won the land in a game called Rattle and Snap and built this home. He is said to have lost the home soon after it was built in another game of Rattle and Snap.
