National Historic Landmark- Philadelphia School of Design for Women

From 1880 to 1959, this was the location of the Philadelphia School of Design for Woman, which was the first school of industrial design for women in the United States.

The school filled a gap in the American vocational, educational, and industrial schema.

Led by numerous prominent art educators, and producing innovative and nationally recognized graduates hailing from all over the country, the School of Design excelled in industrial design and art education, and helped free American industry from foreign design dependence.
