National Historical Landmark-Edna St. Vincent Millay House & Gardens (Steepletop)

From 1925 until 1950, Steepletop was the home of Pulitzer-Prize poet Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892-1950) one of America's most important literary figures of the 20th century.

Feminist, agnostic, and political radical, Millay was a leader in the Bohemian cultural movement of the 1920s that was centered in New York's Greenwich Village.

The home and its contents, including Millay's personal library, music, clothing, household implements and souvenirs from her travels (including Zuni pots) are virtually intact.

Her writing cabin, where she produced many of her later works, is still standing.

Millay's grave and those of her husband and her mother are on the property.
