National Historic Landmark- Texas State Capital

National Historic Landmark-Texas State Capital

Completed in 1887, this structure represents the high water mark in the career of architect Elijah E. Myers (1832-1909), often described the greatest capitol-builder of the Gilded Age.

It is one of the largest capitol structures in the country and reflects the popularity of the national capitol in Washington, DC, as the prototype for state capitol buildings in the post-Civil War era.
