National Historic Landmark- The Elms

The Elms, the Edward J. Berwind estate, is significant for its architectural and landscape design of the Classical Revival Style in the period from 1900 through the 1920s.

In addition, Edward J. Berwind was a leading figure in the American coal industry, and Horace Trumbauer was one of the outstanding architects of the era.
