National Historic Landmark - Traveller's Rest
The limestone main house and two contributing outbuildings of this farmstead derive their primary significance from their association with General Horatio Gates, a major Revolutionary War figure who made his home here from 1773 to 1790. In October 1777 Gates led patriot troops that forced General Burgoyne's army to surrender at Saratoga.
