National Historic Landmark-University Hall Brown University

National Historical Landmark- University Hall Brown University

Built in 1771, this is the oldest university building and, until 1832, the only structure on the campus: the structure contained dormitory rooms, lecture and recitation rooms, the chapel, the library, and the dining hall.

It is also significant for its association with Horace Mann (1796-1859), one of the founders of the American system of free public school, who graduated from Brown University in 1819.
