National Historic Landmark- USS Yorktown

This aircraft carrier was the second ESSEX class carrier built by the U.S.

They formed the core of the fast carrier task forces in the Pacific. YORKTOWN supported American ground troops in the Phillipines, at Iwo Jima, and at Okinawa, also participating at Truk and in the Marianas; she received eleven battle stars and a Presidential Citation for her World War II service.
