Old City Cemetery - Jacksonville

This cemetery contains the remains of approximately 220 Confederate veterans, including Brigadier General Joseph Finegan who commanded Confederate forces at the Battle of Olustee and later commanded the Florida Brigade in the Army of Northern Virginia; and Captain Francis P. Fleming of the 2nd Florida Infantry and 1st Florida Cavalry who commanded a volunteer company at the Battle of Natural Bridge and was governor of Florida from 1889 to 1893.

One section of the Confederate plot contains the remains of those who resided at the Jacksonville Old Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Home, and contains a historical marker with information about the home erected by the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

The Jacksonville home for aged and disabled Confederate veterans was in operation between 1893 and 1938, when the last veteran died.
