Seneca Lake
The deepest of the eleven Finger Lakes, Seneca Lake measures 36 miles long, an average of three miles wide, and 618 feet deep at the deepest point. Because of its depth, the lake has frozen completely only four times since this region was settled.
During World War II, Seneca Lake was the site of the Sampson Naval Training Center.
Marker can be reached from Lake Front Drive (U.S. 20) just south of Lake Street.
