Pena-Peck House
Florida Spanish Colonial Heritage Trail
The Pena-Peck House was constructed around 1750 by order of the King of Spain as the residence of his royal treasurer, Juan Esteban de Pena. The British governor used the home during the brief British Colonial period of Florida (1763-1783). After the Spanish regained control of Florida, the house went through several owners. In 1837, during the Second Seminole War, the Peck family, who had migrated to St. Augustine from New England, purchased the house. The last surviving member of the Peck family donated the house to the City of St. Augustine in 1931.
