Quincy

During the Civil War, Quincy was the location of the Confederate military headquarters for the Middle Florida District. Quincy also served as a Confederate commissary depot and hospital station with the Episcopal church, county courthouse, Quincy Academy and private homes used as make-shift medical centers after the Battles of Olustee and Natural Bridge. In 1884, a Confederate monument was erected in Quincy by the Gadsden County Ladies Memorial Association on the Gadsden County Courthouse Square.
