Retreat Rice Plantation
In 1711 the Lords Proprietors granted Winyah Barony to Robert Daniel, who sold it to Thomas Smith. By 1787 Retreat had been carved from the 12000-acre grant.
Marker is at the intersection of South Island Drive (Local Highway S-22-18) and Wright Skinner Drive, on the right when traveling south on South Island Drive.
