Santa Fe

On the Camino Real

Santa Fe, the oldest capital city in the United States, was established in 1610 as the seat of the Spanish colonial government for the Province of New Mexico. The Palace of the Governors, used by the Spanish, Mexican, and Territorial governors, has flanked the historic plaza since its construction in 1610, and now comprises part of the Museum of New Mexico.

Marker is on Cerrillos Road (New Mexico Route 14) west of Camino Carlos Rey, on the right when traveling north.
