This site represents the center of the first settlement in Morris, Sussex & Warren Counties. The first settlers were attracted by the river, iron ore and the fertile land.
Marker is at the intersection of Mt. Pleasant Avenue (New Jersey Route 10) and Troy Hills Road, on the right when traveling west on Mt. Pleasant Avenue.
