Site of Huntsville Female College

1851-1895

Organized in 1851 under the direction of the Methodist Episcopal Church, so this institution became one of the finest of its kind in the South in the education of girls from the primary through the college level.

Its aim was to "secure the symmetrical development of body, mind, and soul."

Destroyed by fire January 4, 1895.
