Spanktown
January, 1777, a sharp fight took place here between the British and Gen. Maxwell’s men. June 26-27, 1777, the British, retreating in a running fight from Westfield, were pursued here on their route to Amboy and Staten Island.
Marker is on St Georges Avenue near River Road, on the right when traveling south.
