Previous to 1817, known variously as Godley's Mills and Helltown for a rowdy tavern operating nearby. A grist mill and saw mill were built here about 1800.

Marker is at the intersection of Milford Warren Glen Road (County Route 519) and Spring Mills / Spring Garden Road, on the right when traveling south on Milford Warren Glen Road.
