St. Helena's Episcopal Church

St. Helena's Parish was established June 7, 1712

by act of Provincial Assembly. First rector,

The Rev. William Guy, was appointed 1713; Glebe lands of 50 acres provided 1717.

Original church erected 1724; Enlarged

1770 and 1817 when present size was

established and galleries added; Rebuilt 1842.

Alter silver given in 1734 by Capt. John Bull

in memory of his wife, massacred by indians.

Amoung the notables buried in the church yard

are 2 British Revolutionary officers and

3 American generals. The oldest marked grave

is dated 1724.
