St. Thomas More Catholic Church

The Pensacola area has housed Catholics since its founding by the Spanish. The village of Warrington is not any different. Since the creation of the town, a large number of Catholics lived and worshipped in the area, which continued after the government relocated the town in the 1930s. Until the 1950s, there was only one Catholic Church in Warrington. In the 1950s, the Catholic Church decided that Warrington needed a second place for worship and in 1957 built St. Thomas More. Upon its completion, St. Thomas More became the eleventh Catholic parish in the Pensacola area and the second in Warrington, but prior to its completion the parish worshipped in the auditorium of Warrington Middle School. The church also ran St. Thomas More Catholic School for some time, but closed the school after a drop in enrollment. St. Thomas More has been a staple in the Warrington Community for over fifty years. Though the area has changed throughout the years, St. Thomas More continues to serve the Catholics of Warrington and will undoubtedly continue for many years to come.
