St. Thomas More Catholic Church

St. Thomas More Catholic Church began as a small, four-room building in 1954.

Construction of a new church began in 1955 and by Christmas of the following year, the parish celebrated its first Mass in the unfinished building. The construction was finally completed on April 4th, 1957 in time for Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week.

In addition to a new St. Thomas More Church, the parish built a school, which opened its doors in 1960. The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia were the first order of religious women who served the school. After almost twenty-seven years of educating young people, St. Thomas More Catholic School closed in 1987 because of low enrollment and its close proximity to several other Catholic Schools.
