Isadore "Pop" A. Sterling ran Fort Lauderdale's first Sterling Store, founded in 1935, in a converted garage on Andrews Avenue. By the

early 1940s, he operated Sterling's Men's and Boys Store at this site. Pop became a town legend, widely known for his generosity and civic participation.
