Susan Moreno
Susan Moreno 1829-1889
Very little information remains about Susan Byrne Moreno. She was born in Alabama on July 28th, 1829. She then migrated to Pensacola, where she married C. Albert Moreno, a local merchant. They had a son together named C. A. Lopez Moreno. She outlived her husband by 28 years and her son by 29 years. She died on July 23rd, 1889, at the age of 60.
She is buried next to her husband and son. The urn atop their shared grave marker is one of the oldest funerary symbols, signifying mourning and an earthly death. Her husband's side of the marker is inscribed with a Bible verse indicating a strong faith in God in the face of earthly misfortune.
