The Printing Office
Originally a residence, this building was constructed in the early 1880s and stood at 91 N. San Pedro Street near the corner of St. John Street. The popular Italianate style of architecture is seen in the top brackets and the decorative quoins at the corners. The “false front” gives the building a more imposing appearance.
In 1972 the James Perazzo family donated this building to the San Jose Historical Museum. The interior was modified during restoration. Open to the public in 1973, the Printing Office was the first exhibit building to be completed at the San Jose Historical Museum. It was dedicated to Theron Fox who was instrumental in the development of the San Jose Historical Museum.
