the town common in 1669.

During the Civil War thousands of

men enlisted at the recruiting

tents set up in this park.

assisted by the pupils of the Newark Public Schools

Newark Day, November 4, 1918.

Marker is at the intersection of Broad Street and Raymond Blvd, on the left when traveling south on Broad Street.
