U.S.S. Mahopac
A heavily armored Monitor which
joined the attack on Charleston
in 1864 during the Civil War. In
1865 in the Battle for Fort Fisher
it took 8 hits, no serious damage.
Marker is at the intersection of South Lake Blvd (U.S. 6) and Sycamore Road, on the left when traveling east on South Lake Blvd.
