Wheeling Hospital
Chartered March 12, 1850, oldest hospital in state, thru efforts of Dr. S.P. Hullihen, Bishop Whelan and Sisteres of Saint Joseph. Had several locations before moving to this site in 1856. Served as Civil War Army hospital, Nov. 1864 - July 1865, treating soldiers both North and South. Oldest hospital in the state, chartered March 12, 1850 thru efforts of Dr. S.P. Marker is at the intersection of North Main Street (West Virginia Route 2) and 1st Street, on the right when traveling south on North Main Street.
