Anna Mathilda McNeill Whistler, mother of the noted painter, James Abbot McNeill Whistler, lived in a house which stood 1300 yards east of this spot.
Marker is at the intersection of North College Street (Business U.S. 701) and Burney Ford Road, on the left when traveling south on North College Street.
