William Graham
1746 - 1799
Was the founder and first rector of Liberty Hall Academy which was later to become Washington and Lee University.
He was first buried in the churchyard of St. John’s Church, Richmond, VA.
In 1911 his remains were brought to Lexington and now lie here beneath the original tombstone, near the grave of his friend and classmate, “Lighthorse Harry” Lee, on the campus of the school he administered and loved.
Marker can be reached from Letcher Avenue, on the left when traveling north.
