Hampton's Brigade reached the field on Sept. 17 and took position on the left of Jackson's Command. Occupying with Lee's Brigade, a line extending from the left of the Confederate infantry to the Potomac River.
Marker is on Hagerstown Pike (State Highway 65), on the right when traveling south.
